Greetings of the New Year.

We are happy to share with you this invitation from Schmidt Futures and Social Science Research Council to a Futures Forum seminar on Preparedness, 12-13 Jan 2021, which would witness the unveling of two landmark COVID-19 comparative studies.

ESG is participating in one effort – a 23 country comparative study to learn lessons for the future from COVID-19, a study led by Prof. Sheila Jasanoff of Harvard Kennedy School and Prof. Stephen Hilgartner of Cornell University.

We welcome you to join this seminar.

Details to register are below.

Debuting a first-of-its-kind, 23-nation comparative study on the COVID-19 response and a Global Health Security Library chronicling 25 years of pandemic preparedness policy
On January 12-13, 2021, Schmidt Futures invites you to join the Futures Forum on Preparedness to debut the findings of two groundbreaking research projects on the global response to the coronavirus pandemic and construct a global policy agenda to better prepare for and prevent future pandemics.

We will unveil a first-of-its-kind, 23-nation comparative study, supported by the National Science Foundation and undertaken by more than 60 researchers from 27 universities around the world, to determine lessons learned across each nation’s COVID-19 response.

We also will debut an online, searchable Global Health Security Library with over 1,200 global reports chronicling 25 years of pandemic preparedness policy, the most comprehensive repository of its kind ever built to guide scholars and policymakers as they navigate future pandemics.

The virtual forum, hosted in partnership with the Social Science Research Council, will bring together health, science, and policy leaders to determine how we can improve public health, build a network to alleviate future health emergencies, and invest in scientific moonshots to revolutionize our countermeasures for COVID-19 as well as future crises. Join a global community of health, science, and policy leaders. Take action on the research findings in your region. Develop your moonshot ideas. Construct a global policy agenda on the future of preparedness. And stay tuned—there’s more to come!
