Building Imaginaries of Hope & Inclusivity in Tackling Climate Change: ESG & Kochi-Muziris Biennale 2022 collaboration

ESG and Art By Children initiative of Kochi-Muziris Biennale 2022 organised interactive, informative, introspective and insightful workshops to help build wellsprings of collective imaginaries and hope to triumph over disempowering anxieties of prevailing climate crises.

Workshop Report is accessible here.

Background

Floods, droughts, forest fires, heatwaves, caused by climate change, are wreaking havoc globally. But the extractivist and socio-economically unjust paradigm of ‘development’ which caused the crisis, is relentlessly pursued. Policies and politics cause strife amidst us when communities in every village, town, city, state, country and the entire world need to come together guided by values of compassion, celebrating diversities and embracing ecocentrism. We struggle to hold on to sandy beaches of security as waves of our past actions impact our futures.

Over the past 25 years, Environment Support Group (Bangalore) has been dealing with this paradox and is working with multiple communities across India to build collectivised imaginaries of transformations to justice and sustainability.
