Leo Saldanha shared ESG’s views on what the #drafteia2020 Notification means to all of us in a webinar organized by DMK – Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam party on “Law that destroys Environment”. The meeting was chaired Mr. Elangovan MP and presided over by Mr. Stalin, Leader of Opposition in Tamil Nadu Assembly and DMK Party chief.
Mr N Ram , senior journalist and formerly Chaiman of The Hindu Group, Mr Sundar Rajan of Poovalagin Nanbargal and Mr Ritwick Dutta, Lawyer and LIFE chief, were co-speakers. Mr A Raja, MP who served as India’s Environment Minister also spoke. Also present was Mr T R Baalu, who also has served as India’s Environment Minister.
In his closing remarks, Mr Stalin supported the nation-wide opposition to this draconian law, and that it will be opposed in the Parliament soon. One hopes every political party across India conducts similar webinars (given the difficulty in organizing formal gatherings) on this and other such critical concerns. This is democracy at work.
