Subject: Invitation to a Workshop– Green Logistics Project – Gandhi Bazaar Market Management System
The Government of Karnataka is currently working with the German Government through their operational organisation GIZ – Deutsche Gesellschaft fuer Internationale Zusammenarbeit – to improve the supply of fresh fruit and vegetables into urban areas with the project “Sustainable Supply of Perishables into Cities – Green Logistics Project (GLP)”. One of its sub-projects aims at improving the management of fruit and vegetable street markets in urban settings. Gandhi Bazaar in Basavanagudi has been identified for pilot action by the Directorate of Urban Land Transport (DULT) and Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP). The expected outcomes of this project are i) to make informal markets more appealing and competitive to the urban consumer; and ii) to develop the street market with a focus on the infrastructure and conditions of hygiene.
Environment Support Group (ESG) has been enlisted to develop a Market Management System for the Gandhi Bazaar market. On Friday, 16th November 2018, 2 pm to 6.00 pm, a workshop is organised at Indian Institute of World Culture, 6, BP Wadia Road, Basavanagudi, Bengaluru – 560004 to discuss various features of the Market Management Strategy and to identify that which is most suitable for Gandhi Bazaar.
