Appeal: Extend Your Support In Relief Of The Victims Of The Himalayan Earthquake
The massive earthquake that struck Nepal with an intensity of 7.9 (on Richter scale) on 25th April 2015 has devastated the country. Aftershocks continue to reverberate through the Himalayan regions, and have affected areas across the massive Gangetic plains – from Delhi to Kolkota. It will be several days before the actual scale of this Himalayan catastrophe will be known to us.
As Governments and relief agencies across South Asia and from around the world are scrambling to help the victims, each of us could do our bit to help.
A list of medicines and other material immediately needed are enclosed below. Please keep these ready to deliver to a collection point when called for.
In the meantime, you could contribute monetarily to relief and rehabilitation efforts – money that will go to credible agencies who have the experience of responding effectively to such catastrophes.
Details of all contributors and also how contributions have reached impacted areas will be posted on ESG website: www.esgindia.org.
This is an initiative of Environment Support Group, a not-for-profit organisation responding to various environmental and social justice concerns and located in Bangalore (www.esgindia.org). We have in the past responded by mobilising support for relief and rehabilitation efforts during natural disasters to assist impacted communities. These resources are then channelised through highly credible relief and rehabilitation organisation working in the impacted area.
Thank you for your cooperation and support.
